On September 17, 2024, thousands of pagers belonging to Hezbollah exploded almost simultaneously, resulting in 12 fatalities and around 2750 injuries. The next day, over 450 handheld radios used by Hezbollah also exploded. Suspicions have arisen that the Israeli intelligence services may be behind these attacks.
