COL Hummel Bio

COL Tim Hummel was commissioned into the Aviation Branch upon graduating from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management from West Point and a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania.

COL Hummel’s past assignments include Assistant Operations Officer (S3), Attack Platoon Leader, and Squadron Logistics Officer (S4), 2-6 Cavalry Squadron, Storck Barracks, Illesheim, Germany; Assistant Operations Officer (S3), Company Commander, B Company, 1-501st Attack Helicopter Battalion, Operations Officer (S3), 127th Aviation Support Battalion, Fliegerhorst Kaserne, Hanau, Germany; Small Group Leader/Instructor, Aviation Captains Career Course, U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence, Fort Rucker, AL; Battalion Executive Officer, Operations Officer (S3), 3-159th Attack Helicopter Battalion, Operations Officer (S3), 12th Combat Aviation Brigade, Katterbach Kaserne, Ansbach, Germany; Joint Exercise Branch Chief (J7), Joint Training Branch Chief (J7), U.S. Pacific Command, Camp Smith, HI; Battalion Commander, 127th Aviation Support Battalion, 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss, TX; and Strategic Communications Officer and Planner for the Commanding General, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, Fort Eustis, Virginia.

Colonel Hummel is a Senior Army Aviator who has earned various awards and decorations to include: Bronze Star Medal with oak leaf cluster, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Air Medal with numeral three, Army Commendation Medal with four oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, and the NATO Medal.
